The Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum will organize a training workshop on Methods and Approaches to Research on Migration Issues between January 16 and 20, 2023. The workshop is supported by the Research Programme on International Migration from Kerala at the Centre for Development studies and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India. Applications are invited from research scholars from Indian universities and colleges as well as early career professionals in organizations working on migrant issues.
The course is designed to introduce participants to a range of problems, data sources, analytical frameworks and techniques related to labour migration and population movements. Approaches and methods will be discussed in the context of specific migration-related issues to provide a contextual, illustrative and grounded understanding. Sessions will deal with analytical issues arising from migration within India and across its borders and discuss both quantitative and qualitative data and methods.
The workshop will be in hybrid mode with mostly in person lectures and entirely in person participation by attendees. There will be a total of 45 participants, 20 selected from the applicants and 25 nominated from the Indian Statistical Service. Selected applicants will be offered three- tier AC train fare from the shortest route, free board and lodging.
