The Committee of Direction at its meeting dated 16.01.2019 has approved the proposal of the Centre to institute a ‘Student Welfare Fund’ by drawing Rs.1.00 lakh from the Centre’s Endowment Fund. The CDS Alumni has also contributed to the fund subsequently. The annual interest income of the corpus fund may be utilized for covering the health expenditure of the registered students at the Centre.
The operational rules for managing the Student Welfare Fund are as follows:
- The proceeds are to be used only for covering health expenditure of registered students at CDS.
- Registered students include first & second year MA students and PhD students during the first four years of their registration.
- The health expenditure covers both in-patient and out-patient treatment at hospitals in Trivandrum city.
- The annual family income of the applicant should not be more than Rupees Five Lakhs, proper documentary evidence for this must accompany the application for financial support.
- The maximum amount that can be paid to an applicant should not exceed more than fifty percent of the amount available for distribution.
- For availing this assistance, student should apply within one month of the completion of treatment.
- The amount will be available on reimbursement basis. The request for advance payment may be considered in emergency situations.
