CDS is located in a residential area in the northwest part of the City of Thiruvananthapuram, called Prasanthnagar. It is easily accessible by road, rail and air. The 10-acre (40,000 m2) campus, designed and constructed by the renowned architect, Laurie Baker, epitomizes his style and philosophy of adaptive building methods. The CDS Library is one of the biggest in South India with over 1,70,000 titles in Economics and allied disciplines and subscribing to about 88 print journals and 3326 e-journals and is fully automated using Libsys software. Residential accommodation in the campus consists of quarters for faculty and staff, hostels for students, a guesthouse and a cafeteria.
How to reach CDS
By Road: The nearest bus stop on the national highway NH-47 is at Ulloor, which is 2 km from CDS. The central bus terminal is the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Bus Station, just opposite to the Trivandrum Central railway station, Thampanoor, about 10 kms from CDS. Pre paid Taxis and auto rickshaws are available outside the station and at all places for commuting.
By Rail: There are three railway stations within the city limits including the Thiruvananthapuram central station. The Central railway station is located at Thampanoor in the heart of the city, 10 km from the CDS. Kochuveli railway station is about 6 km from CDS and the Pettah railway station is about 4 km from CDS.
By Air: CDS is about 8 kms from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Several direct flights from the Middle East, Singapore, Maldives, Malaysia and Sri Lanka connect the city to the world and several domestic airlines to the rest of the country. Pre-paid taxis and auto rickshaws are available at the airport.
