Joan Robinson Hall View mapThe Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram invites applications to attend a workshop on Methods and Approaches to Research on Migration Issues at the Centre between March 24 to 28, 2025. The workshop which is organized annually as part of the activities of the state government sponsored Research Programme on International Migration from Kerala is open to research scholars from Indian universities and colleges as well as early career professionals in organizations working on migrant issues. The workshop will have mostly in person lectures and entirely in person participation by the scholars and trainees. The Centre will accommodate a maximum of 25 participants preferably a mix of research scholars and early career professionals with an investment in migration studies.
The course will be designed to introduce the participants to a range of problems, data sources, analytical frameworks and techniques with reference to labour migration and population movements. Approaches and methods will be discussed in the context of specific migration -related issues to provide a contextual, illustrative and grounded understanding of methods. Analytical issues arising from migration within India and across its borders, as well as quantitative and qualitative data and methods will be discussed.
Along with the completed application in the prescribed format (Registration Link: http://bit.ly/4hspIIr), applicants are expected to attach a 500 word note describing their motivation to participate in the workshop. The note should mention their current research or in the case of professionals, the relevance to their work along with the completed application.
The last date for receipt of applications is February 15, 2025 and selected candidates will be informed by February 20, 2025.
