Workshop on Methods and Approaches to Research on Migration Issues

The workshop which is organized annually as part of the activities of the state government sponsored Research Programme on International Migration from Kerala is open to research scholars from Indian universities and colleges as well as early career professionals in organizations working on migrant issues. The workshop will have mostly in person lectures and entirely in person participation by the scholars and trainees.

The course will be designed to introduce the participants to a range of problems, data sources, analytical frameworks and techniques with reference to labour migration and population movements. Approaches and methods will be discussed in the context of specific migration -related issues to provide a contextual, illustrative and grounded understanding of methods. Analytical issues arising from migration within India and across its borders, as well as quantitative and qualitative data and methods will be discussed.
