The RBI Endowment at CDS invites applications from PhD students and early-career faculty members for a six-day workshop on Open Economy Macroeconomics and Economic Integration in Emerging Market Economies. The workshop will delve into critical topics in open economy macroeconomics, such as monetary and fiscal policy, economic growth, the financial sector, international trade, capital flows, and exchange rates, with a particular focus on applied and policy-relevant issues within the Indian context.

The workshop will feature lectures by leading economists and professionals and offer participants the opportunity to present their research work in a collaborative and stimulating environment.

Objective:

The workshop aims to:
• Deepen participants’ understanding of open economy macroeconomic issues and related fields.
• Explore the implications of economic integration for emerging market economies, with a special focus on India’s macroeconomic challenges and opportunities.
• Familiarize participants with the latest developments in macroeconomic theories, methods, and policy approaches.
• Provide insights into the functioning of apex financial institutions, with a particular focus on the role and operations of the Reserve Bank of India.

Eligibility:

Applications are invited from:
• PhD students focusing on or planning to focus on open economy macroeconomics or related sub-fields.
• Early-career faculty members engaged in teaching or research in macroeconomics.

Structure:

• Morning sessions: Expert lectures on the themes of the workshop
• Afternoon sessions: Presentations by selected participants on their research work.
(Note: Presenting research is not mandatory. Early-stage PhD scholars interested in pursuing their research in areas mentioned above are encouraged to apply, even without a research paper)

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following:
1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. A one-page description of their research and/or teaching interests.
3. If intending to present a paper: A one-page abstract of the paper.

Travel support & accommodation:

Sleeper class fares for regular express trains by the shortest route (excluding Rajadhani, Duronto, Vande Bharat, and other premium or dynamic pricing trains) will be reimbursed. Campus accommodation will be provided for the period of 13th-18th of March, 2025
