Abstract: The Hema Committee Report has brought to light shocking labour violations rampant in the Malayalam cinema industry. In media discussions, the focus has largely been on sexual violation, but the Report also prominently flags three other forms of violation — discrimination, exploitation, and retribution, which is discussed less intensely in the public. In this context, the Althea Women’s Collective has put forward a set of proposals to the Kerala State Labour and Skills Department to remedy each of these four violations. In the present discussion, we hope to present these ideas with the aim of fine-tuning them through collective reflection.
