Accordingly, the Committee announces the session proposals (click here) and the associated team members of the proposals (click here) that invites original papers for oral presentations and academic network.

About CDS

The Centre for Development Studies (CDS) was founded on October 19, 1970, by noted economist, Professor K N Raj. It is an autonomous social science research centre supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the Government of Kerala. Its main activities are research, teaching and training in the broad area of development studies.

Research at the CDS is organized around eleven thematic issues: Culture and Development, Decentralisation and Governance, Gender and Development, Human Development, Health and Education, Industry and Trade, Innovation and Technology, Employment and Social Security, International and Internal migration, Agriculture and Plantation Crops and Politics and Development. It is conducted independently, or under various endowment units and endowment funds. The two programmes – MA in Applied Economics and PhD in Economics are the two pillars of the Centre’s academic activities. The MA and PhD degrees are awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The state-of-the-art CDS library is one of the biggest social science repositories of wisdom in South India with over 1,50,000 titles in economics and related disciplines and subscribes to about 5000 print and online professional journals.

About the Law and Economics Trust

The first three International Conferences on Law and Economics (ICLE), 2015, 2016 and 2017 were held under the consortium of GNLU-Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur and IIM Ahmedabad respectively. The consortium has been transformed into the Indian Association of Law and Economics (IALE) at the 2nd conference, IIT Kanpur (please see the URL for the MoU of the Association: https://www.iitk.ac.in/ICLE2016/doc/asriale2016.pdf). Under the Indian Association of Law and Economics (IALE), 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th annual conferences were held at GIPE-Pune, IIM Bangalore, NLIU-Bhopal, TNNLU-Tiruchirappalli and NLU-Delhi, and BBAU- Lucknow, respectively. The Law and Economics Trust was constituted at the 9th conference, BBAU, Lucknow. The 10th conference was held at IIT Kharagpur in association with the Law and Economics Trust. 

The Vision and the Mission of the Law and Economics Trust are as follows:·        

  • Law and Economics methods that helps to evaluate and design incentive structured institutions (Ex-ante and Ex-post) to generate cooperative surplus and reduce transaction costs for conservation of resources that promotes value of life;·        
  • Knowledge generation (basic and applied) and dissemination of Techno-Economic-Legal Learning (TELL) within the ambit of Law and Economics methods that promotes compliance of the institutions to transform Money Making Mind (MMM) into Wealth, Wellness and Wiseness (WWW); and,·        
  • Promote research and dialogue on economic analysis of rules, law and governance in India. 

The 11th International Conference on Law and Economics (ICLE-2025) will be held at the Cente for Devlopment Studies (CDS) during 15-16, November, 2025.

Submission of Abstract/Full Paper  

We invite paper proposals, addressing issues related to law and economics in the context of national and international priority challenges. The proposals should consist of an abstract of 500 words that outlines the research relevance and approach pertaining to the law and economics interface.

The abstracts should be submitted to icle2025@cds.edu by 17 September, 2025. Please specify the JEL classification codes (K0, K1, K2, K3, K4) / Title of the session proposals. The following details must also be mentioned in the body of the email:

Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by 24 September, 2025. After abstract approval, the participants are requested to send their full papers to icle2025@cds.edu on or before 7 November, 2025. The full papers should be between 5,000 to 7,000 words, and accompanied with the approved abstract.

Students must submit a student ID or letter of supervisor, or any document stating that the student is currently enrolled at a college or university. The document must be sent by email to the Conference e-mail ID: icle2025@cds.edu.
After registration, there will be no cancellation.

At least 1 author of the paper should be physically present during Conference.
