To be presented by Shri. Vaidik Chakraborty, PhD Scholar, CDS and Prof. Udaya S. Mishra, International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, on an online mode on Thursday the 12th October from 11 am onwards.

ABSTRACT: In this paper we have introduced a systemic structure for interpersonal comparability among deprivations. We used a stage-wise inclusive partial deprivation model for developing economies, to estimate for the intensity of multidimensional deprivations among people and communities. We have selected India as a developing country for the analysis and have taken households as the unit of analysis. We used a quartile-based measure for a comparative study among the Indian states, regions (urban and rural) and the demographic health surveys (DHS) survey rounds between 2015 and 2019. We also accounted for the base effect for the respective outcomes – using level-sensitive outcomes for further analysis. Finally, using Moran’s I and univariate LISA we even located the clusters (of districts) of high-improvement (hot-spots) in terms of the corresponding measures.
