Professor Kakkadan Nandanath Raj, popularly known as K. N. Raj, was born in Thrissur on May 13, 1924. After graduating with a BA (Hons.) in Economics from Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai, in 1944, Raj pursued an MSc in Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). He was awarded a PhD from LSE for his work on the monetary policy of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

In commemoration of the birth centenary of our esteemed founder, Prof K N Raj, we are organizing a significant event to honor his legacy and the profound impact he has had on CDS and beyond. In this regard, CDS is hosting a conference to commemorate the centenary year of Prof. K.N. Raj, scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 22, 2024. This conference holds special significance as we reflect on Prof. Raj’s remarkable contributions to academia, development studies, and the shaping of CDS into a renowned institution of excellence.

Here is a brief overview of the schedule:

October 19 (Saturday):

CDS Governing Body meeting in the forenoon. The evening will be dedicated to the alumni meet and the CDS community dinner.

October 20 (Sunday):

Inaugural function of the conference in the afternoon.

October 21 and 22 (Monday and Tuesday):

Conference sessions.
